While racism raises it's head in U. S. election campaigns.

Photograph of vigilante officials who are accused of firing into barricades over the weekend, killing six. Thousands of federal police stormed into Oaxaco on orders of Mexico's President Fox and according to reports have managed to seize the city square and little else.

The outrage of the Mexican authorities firing guns into unarmed protesters manning barricades in Oaxaco, Mexico is reported on at the latest program of Democracy Now! (linked above in title line). The spokespeople for the Oaxaco rebels report that their activities have been "absolutely non - violent" despite death squads and roving "paramilitary" gangs of former city and state officials and plainclothes policeman.
