Announcement Details

Saturday, September 19th from 3:00-5:00 Workshop: How to Make Medicinal Tinctures
Sponsored by LSN's Gardeners' Interest Group Lawrence Faith Church (east door), 1020 Kasold Drive

Terry Shistar will be presenting a workshop on learning how to make medicinal tinctures. If you'd like to come, please contact her asap at tshistar@gmail.com to let her know which herb/herbs you plan on tincturing. She'll have some specific instructions for you. This will also give her an idea of how many will be attending, so as to best prepare. All attendees need to bring:
~Enough of your herbal material to stuff your jar
~One pint sized glass jar and lid
~One pint Everclear vodka (found in the liquor store in the vodka section. It's something like 95% alcohol/190 proof and not cheap. Buy a larger container with a friend or two to save $)
~A sharp knife and cutting board
If you want to make more, get a quart of Everclear and a quart size or 2 pint sized jars.

Pinwheel Farm's Fall Sheep Shearing Day MONDAY, Sept. 21 starting at about 10 or 10:30 a.m.
Both volunteers and viewers are welcome to attend.

This will be an Open Farm Day as usual, and folks are welcome to stay and picnic, walk the Wilderness Trail, and watch (or help) us skirt fleeces after the shearing is done. We will only be shearing two of the ewes and some of the market lambs, so it will be a quick shearing.

The farm and event are accessible to all ages and abilities. Children should be closely supervised. Off street parking, water, and sanitary facilities are available. The site is flat and easily accessible. Please do not bring pets on Shearing Day.

For directions and more information, contact Natalya Lowther by email (natalyalowther@hotmail.com) or leave a message at 785-979-6786. You can also check our blog, Reports From the Farm, at www.pinwheelfarm.blogspot.com for updates on this and other events.
